A replacement for the part you can't see, too
A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. It's placed in the jawbone and creates a foundation for the replacement tooth you see above it.
For one missing tooth, that usually means an implant topped with a crown. When several teeth are missing, implants can also support a bridge or another type of restoration.
The goal is to replace what's missing without involving healthy neighboring teeth when we don't need to.
What treatment is actually like

Planned around you
Your implant is placed in the jawbone, usually right here in our office. We make sure you're comfortable with local anesthesia, and sedation options are available when appropriate.

Then comes healing. Over time, the bone integrates around the implant and creates the stable foundation we need.

Once the implant is ready, we attach the restoration — such as a crown for a single tooth or a bridge when several teeth are being replaced.

Not every missing tooth is automatically an implant case.
A dental implant needs enough healthy bone to support it. If there isn't enough bone where the tooth is missing, placing an implant there may not be the right first step.
Sometimes bone can be rebuilt with grafting. Sometimes another treatment makes more sense. We'll show you what we see and talk through the options before recommending anything.
